1. Objective
Upgrade the Protos 70 Maker with an advanced on-line perforation system featuring K Series CO₂ pulse laser technology, high-speed SIEMENS PLC control, and optimized optical and mechanical components. This upgrade aims to enhance production efficiency, safety, and product quality while reducing downtime and wastage.
2. Project Background
The Protos 70 is a high-performance maker widely used in cigarette production. Its existing perforation system, while functional, faces challenges with smouldering risks, frequent tobacco blockages, and limitations in precision. To meet increasing quality standards and operational demands, a comprehensive upgrade is required.
The proposed upgrade includes:
- Integration of SIEMENS 1500 series PLC and TP1200 HMI for higher control precision and user-friendly operation.
- Adoption of K Series CO₂ pulse laser for stable and accurate perforation.
- Replacement of heavy cast-iron parts with aviation-grade aluminum, improving durability, maintenance, and appearance.
- Optimization of laser punching position from 2 o’clock to improved positioning, reducing fire hazards and rejection rates.
3. Key Benefits
- Higher Efficiency: Reduced downtime from tobacco blockages, faster operation with optimized motion control.
- Enhanced Safety: Minimizes smouldering and fire risks through improved laser positioning and airflow design.
- Lower Wastage: Reduced rejection rate and material loss, ensuring cost savings.
- Ease of Maintenance: Modular structure, easy disassembly/assembly, and extended service cycle.
- Product Quality: Consistent hole size and precision punching for better ventilation performance.
- Future-ready: Advanced PLC and modular design allow for seamless future automation upgrades.
